ASHEBORO N.C. — Effective January 1st, 2024, Acme Ventures LLC will officially transfer ownership of Randolph News Now to the North State Journal. This milestone marks the end of an important chapter for our company and the beginning of a new journey for Randolph News Now.

To prepare for the change in ownership a new logo and look for Randolph News Now was rolled out to the website and social media accounts overnight. This new looks will better reflect the sites new ownership and match North State Journals branding.

After the date of the transition Acme Ventures LLC will no longer control the operations, policies, or hosting for the site. All future inquires should be directed to the North State Journal.

Since late 2020, Acme Ventures has worked tirelessly to build a local news site from the ground up, publishing over 1,000 articles and achieving more than two million page views.

With the resources and expertise of the North State Journal now behind the site we are excited to see where it will go next. We remain confident that the North State Journal will continue to uphold the editorial standards and commitment to local news we have instilled in the site since day one.

“We are immensely proud of what we have accomplished,” said Scott Pelkey, Managing Director at Acme Ventures. “I acknowledge that this transition, which has been coming for a while now, and it brings with it mixed emotions.”

Our team at Acme Ventures LLC has poured our hearts into Randolph News Now, and we deeply appreciate the support and loyalty of our readers and supporters over the years.

Acme Ventures Partners with One Tree Planted

ASHEBORO N.C. (Feb. 16, 2023) – Today, Acme Ventures LLC is proud to announce a partnership with One Tree Planted, a public 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to supporting global reforestation efforts.

Since its inception in 2014, One Tree Planted has made an incredible impact by planting over 135.5 million trees in collaboration with 378 partners across 82 countries. Their work spans North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Pacific.

Trees in particular play a crucial role in our ecosystem. They help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, provide habitats for over 80% of the world’s land based biodiversity, are used in up to 25% of all medicines, and absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, helping to mitigate climate change.

At Acme Ventures LLC, we recognize that even as a paperless business, our operations have an environmental footprint. As part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility, we believe it’s essential to invest some of our profits to offset our impact. Partnering with One Tree Planted is the first step in our journey towards becoming more environmentally friendly.

With this acquisition, our Randolph County Edition can provide comprehensive news, sports and business coverage.”

“The North State Journal was an obvious choice for us early on because they have the resources of a large statewide news outlet while being committed to local reporting,” said Scott Pelkey, editor of Randolph News Now. Randolph News Now Expands Reach

UPDATE - In 2022, Randolph News Now was purchased by the North State Journal. Click here to find out more.

As readership on Randolph News Now continues to grow, we have been working behind the scenes to reach more even readers and offer more convenient ways for our readers to stay informed.

We are excited to announce that Randolph News Now has been accepted on the Google News platform and the Bundle News App.

Google News

In September, Randolph News Now was officially recognized as an approved news source on Google News.

Google News is a widely-used news aggregator service developed by Google, presenting links to articles organized from thousands of publishers and magazines. Accessible as an app on Android, iOS, and the Web, Google News will now feature content from our site. As we continue to establish ourselves as a trusted news source, our articles will increasingly appear in various places on Google, including local news searches.

Bundle News App

Following our acceptance on Google News, we were also approved for the Bundle News app just a month later. Bundle is one of the top-rated news apps, delivering a comprehensive collection of news stories from 15,000 outlets across 20 countries and 23 categories. Users can follow a diverse range of sources, including local, national, and global news outlets, as well as specialized blogs covering tech, science, sports, music, and entertainment, to create a personalized news feed.

Newsbreak

We were also recently made aware that article from Randolph News Now are now appearing on Newsbreak. A news aggregator website and app. While we did not apply to be a news source on Newsbreak we’re happy to be where our readers are.

Getting approved as a news source on these apps and websites has been a process involving developing and publishing editorial guidelines, and improving the sites back end to allow news feeds to be publicly accessible to these services.

“While this is certainly exciting news, at its core, Randolph News Now is a local news site and our main goal remains providing fast, factual, accurate reporting on breaking news, crime, and events to the residents of Randolph County,” said Scott Pelkey, Managing Director of Acme Ventures LLC and the lead Journalist for Acme News.

“None of this would have been possible without support from our local readers and we’re excited to see where the journey of operating a local news site takes us.”

I was good at academics, so decisions of my life had been pretty simple and straight. Being pretty confident I would make it to the best junior college of my town in the first round itself, never made me consider any other option. I loved psychology since childhood, but engineering was the safest option. Being born in a middle class family, thinking of risking your career to make it to medical field was not sane. I grew up hearing ‘Only doctor’s children can afford that field’ and finally ended up believing it. No one around me believed in taking risks. Everyone worshiped security. I grew up doing the same.

‘Being in the top will only grant you a good life’ has been the mantra of my life. But at times, I wish I was an average student. I wish decisions would have not been so straightforward. Maybe I would have played cricket- the only thing I feel passionate about. Or maybe I would have studied literature (literature drives me crazy). Isn’t that disappointing- me wishing to be bad at academics. It’s like at times I hate myself for the stuff I am good at.

When you step out of these four walls on a peaceful morning, you realize how much nature has to offer to you. Its boundless. Your thoughts, worries, deadlines won’t resonate here. Everything will flow away along with the wind. And you will realize every answer you had been looking for, was always known to you. It would mean a lot to me if you recommend this article and help me improve.
